HASTINGS, MN—Innovative Surfaces in Hastings has donated the granite countertop fabrication and installation for the Homeward Bound project, in conjunction with Century College, for the fourth consecutive year. Homeward Bound is a nonprofit organization that houses severely disabled individuals with around-the-clock caregivers. This year’s design project consisted of the kitchen and medical/work area, which provided space for the staff to store and prepare medications and a peninsula for resident to use for various activities.
Century College Kitchen and Bath Design Students design the spaces as part of their final project for their Basic Kitchen and Bath Design class. These designs were then presented to the Homeward Bound representatives, who selected components they liked from all the designs to create and draft final kitchen plans. Students at St. Paul College then did the carpentry work, build cabinets and installations.
