Lowe's donates $2.5 million to Rebuilding Together

Rebuilding Together, a national nonprofit with a vision of a safe and healthy home for every person, today announced a $2.5 million donation from Lowe’s to support the mission of providing critical home repairs for low-income homeowners.

To kick off this year’s partnership, Lowe’s Heroes employee volunteers will join with community members in Nashville on May 29-31 to provide critical repairs to 15 homes and build a playground.  Throughout the year, Lowe’s will also team with Rebuilding Together to complete neighborhood revitalization projects in California, Massachusetts, Oklahoma and North Carolina.

A national partner since 2007, Lowe’s funds Rebuilding Together’s signature community programs, including Kickoff to Rebuild, an NFL-sanctioned community rebuild event, and other community revitalization projects across the country. In addition to funding, Lowe’s supports Rebuilding Together projects with thousands of Lowe’s Heroes.

“Today’s announcement demonstrates Lowe’s commitment in helping Rebuilding Together fulfill its vision of a safe and healthy home for every person,” said Charley Shimanski, Rebuilding Together’s president and CEO. “From its financial contributions to the physical support of its employee volunteers at rebuild projects, we are grateful to Lowe’s for its commitment to making a difference for families and communities in need.”

Since 2007, Lowe’s has contributed more than $11 million to Rebuilding Together to improve local communities. With the help of Lowe’s Heroes, Lowe’s and Rebuilding Together have renovated and rehabilitated more than 1,200 homes and assisted approximately 13,000 individuals, assisting low-income, elderly and disabled homeowners with critical repairs, accessibility and safety modifications and energy-efficiency updates.

“Our partnership with Rebuilding Together is a natural extension of our work to help people improve and maintain their homes,” said Joan Higginbotham, Lowe’s director of community relations. “With thousands of hours of help from volunteers, we’re able to enhance the quality of life for homeowners in communities across the country.”

Lowe’s funding also supports Rebuilding Together’s AmeriCorps program helping build their capacity. These funds enable nearly 35 affiliates to assist more homeowners and complete additional rebuilding projects in local communities in 23 states.
