The windows combine the company’s Ultrex material with three panes of glass and argon gas, which brings U-factors from 0.18 to 0.20. It limits the window opening to 4 in. unless overridden in a two-step process. The limiter re-sets automatically each time the window is closed. The device already is offered (field-applied) on its double-hung products, but is now expanding to casements.

DecoGuard Hurricane-resistant Glass Product From Hy-Lite Products: Hy-Lite has introduced DecoGuard, an impact-resistant decorative glass that meets building code requirements for the Gulf and coastal regions and meets the AAMA 506-08 hurricane impact specification and AAMA 101/I.S.2/A440-05 window standard. Constructed from a heavy-duty vinyl frame and impact-resistant laminated glass, the 48-inch square window has a floral design kiln-fired on the interior glass. Four frame colors are available: bronze, driftwood, tan and white.
