Onduvilla shingles from Ondura are made from recycled fibers and infused with bitumen (asphalt), resulting in a durable and lightweight roofing system. Each shingle also has a three-tone color finish, which gives them the raised appearance of traditional Mediterranean roofs. Onduvilla’s light and flexible design makes it fit seamlessly with all standard roof structures. The shingles are made from more than 50-percent post-consumer recycled fiber (ISO-14021) and use natural pigments for coloration. Five colors are available: Tuscany red, spruce green, Florentino terra cotta, siena brown and oxidian black. Weight per square is approximately 90 lbs.
GAF has announced two new lifetime shingles: Grand Sequoia IR and Sienna. Grand Sequoia IR Specialty Shingles are a Class 4 impact-resistant version of the Lifetime Designer Shingles. They feature oversized tabs and a wood-shake look. Sienna Lifetime Designer Shingles have a diamond-shaped design with artisan-crafted shapes and a dimensional look. Four custom colors are available.
CertainTeed Corp.'s Landmark Solaris Gold, Landmark Solaris Platinum and Presidential Shake Solaris asphalt shingles are solar-reflective shingles to replicate the appearance of wood shake. Landmark Solaris Gold has 25 percent solar reflectivity; Landmark Solaris Platinum has 40 percent solar reflectivity; and Presidential Solaris offers 25 percent solar reflectivity with the look of hand-split wood shakes.
Heritage Woodgate laminated asphalt shingles from Tamko Building Products Inc. are designed with a wide cut and an enhanced shadow line to resembles wood shake. The shingles feature double layers of fiberglass mat for strength. Each layer is coated on both sides with weathering-grade asphalt and topped with ceramic minerals. A self-sealing strip of asphalt provides added wind resistance.
TruDefinition Duration Series shingles
Product From Owens CorningOwens Corning’s TruDefinition Duration Series shingles feature an enhanced SureNail Technology design, which has a tough, woven engineered reinforcing fabric in the nailing area that helps deliver nail blow-through and nail-pull resistance. A triple layer of reinforcement occurs at the common bond area of the laminate layers. The shingles will be available in February 2012.
Cascade from PABCO Roofing Products features a patented diamond shape and is often specified on historic buildings or on roofs in historic neighborhoods. Weighing 360 pounds per square, Cascade features a limited lifetime warranty for single-family residential buildings and a 50-year fully transferable limited warranty for all other structures. All four traditional colors are available with Scotchgard’s 20-year algae resistant warrantee.

CertainTeed Landmark Solaris Shingles
Product From CertainTeed CorporationCertainTeed’s Landmark Solaris is a steep-slope, solar reflective asphalt roofing shingle which contains advanced colored granules that reflect the sun’s rays and can reduce a roofs temperature by as much as 20 percent in the summer. The reflective technology reduces “thermal shock,” the expansion and contraction of exterior building materials. The shingles are rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) and meet the California Title 24 requirements for cool steep-slope roofing.

Atlas Roofing Corp. has made available its Pristine Shingles with Scotchgard Protector from 3M. Scotchgard eliminates stains and streaks caused by algae on the Pristine Shingles, which include Pinnacle, StormMaster Shake and StormMaster Slate. 3M developed a copper granule to protect the roofing surface; the granule is used in a 10 percent blend rate in the Pristine Shingles, which is verified by a third-party laboratory.
