Weyerhaeuser has added Flak Jacket protection to its Trus Joist TJI joist line. The protection incorporates a special coating that enhances fire resistance. Builders can cut and drill joists as usual and use standard hangers for installation. The joists meet 2012 IRC R501.3 fire-protection requirements in single-family homes. They are available in multiple series and depths to meet various load-bearing requirements.
