Roxul ComfortBatt is a stone wool insulation product for use in both new residential construction and renovations. This semi-rigid batt has a unique flexible edge designed to compress as the batt is inserted into walls, attics, ceiling and floor frames. Its properties include: easily cut; non-combustible; sound absorbent; does not rot, or sustain vermin; does not promote growth of fungi or mildew; low moisture ab sorption; chemically inert; non-corrosive; water resistant; cfc- and hcfc-free; made from natural & recycled materials; and earns LEED points.

Knauf Insulation EcoBatts or Knauf Premium Blowing Insulation, used with Knauf’s EcoSeal (a fast drying, water-based elastomeric spray that seals penetrations and joints in the building envelope and is extremely low in VOCs), form the EcoSeal System — a hig- performance, continuous and affordable air and thermal barrier. EcoBatt contains three primary ingredients: sand, 60% post-consumer recycled glass and ECOSE Technology for greater sustainability and contains no phenol or formaldehyde.

CertainTeed’s Sustainable Insulation is fiber glass insulation is made from recycled and renewable content including a plant-based binder. It contains no formaldehydes, dyes, acrylics or unnecessary fire retardant chemicals. The insulation consists of a 50 percent renewable content and a recycled glass content of 35 percent in the U.S. and 70 percent in Canada. Sustainable Insulation is available in batt and roll form, unfaced or kraft-faced, and is designed for use in standard wood stud and steel-frame wall assemblies.

ComfortTherm Fiberglass insulation

Johns Manville ComfortTherm poly-encapsulated thermal and acoustical fiber glass insulation is lightweight and made of long, resilient glass fibers bonded with an acrylic thermosetting binder. ComfortTherm is wrapped in plastic for more comfortable installation with less itch and dust. The product is available with a vapor-retarder plastic facing, and also with a plastic facing that does not act as a vapor-retarder, for use in hot, humid climates. Pre-cut batts fit standard wall cavities and are faster to install than roll products.

Natural Sheep Wool Insulation

Oregon Shepherd produces natural sheep wool insulation. The loose fill, blown-in wool insulation meets ASTM standards for E-84 and E-1486 flame testing. It is fire and vermin-resistant, nontoxic and resists mold growth. The product reduces heating and cooling costs by eliminating voids and air pockets and increasing the effective R-value.
